Happy Birthday Sweet 16!!!

16 years ago today I gave birth to her at 6:45 PM. She weighed in at 9 lbs. 11 oz. Seems like only yesterday..........

Almost Over

The school year is almost over. 3 more days with noon dismissal. Am I ready for "I'm bored", "I'm hungry"? No, not quite. Fortunately we will be away for 2 weeks and when we get back, Kat will hoprefully be able to get into that college class. COLLEGE! OMG, I think I'm going to be sick! I feel sooooo old! They were just born yesterday! Kari is turning 16 on Monday! Where has the time gone?????

We are planning on having a BBQ on Sunday for Memorial Day/ Kari's Birthday. It ALWAYS rains on Memorial Day weekend ESPECIALLY since we are planning something. :)

I've been dieting & exercising. Nothing works. I wonder if it is the stupid cysts???? I guess I won't know until we get back. I am so totally ignoring the pains & discomforts. Hopefully I can avoid another surgery.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers, I hope you had a great day!

Danny was working so the girls and I had lunch at Samurai on Saturday. Then on Sunday we went to my mom's and spent some time there. I made a killer cheesecake .... YUM! The girls gave me a card each and a box of chocolates. Sweeties, have you seen the junk inside my trunk????? But mommy, you're not fat.... yeah right! Anywho, I also got my new laptop! Dude, I got a Dell! Don't know what the deal with Dell is, seems the same to me. I'm just happy with my internal wireless instead of that doo-hickey stickin out from the back.


Came home and plopped myself down to watch Deperate Housewives & Grey's Anatomy. Can I just say OMG! I absolutely LOVE Grey's Anatomy! I hate that it's the season finale. I can't wait to watch tonight. All I'm saying is that the president better not interrupt my G.A!

Out of it

I've been feeling out of sorts for the past 2 days. Crying for no reason. Don't know what's going on. Peri maybe? Who knows? I had surgical meno so I doubt it.
Maybe it's the lack of adult conversation. Knowing that 8 out of 10 times, what I say goes in one ear and out the other. Whatever it is, I want it to go away. It gives me a headache..... and a heartache.

Where is the rain???

I waited all day for the rain that was predicted. I didn't turn on the sprinklers nor did I water the plants. Gotta conserve water but how can we if we get no RAIN! My grass is hay, the plants are wimpy, the pool was low. I had to break down & fill the pool when the pump started making noises because it was so low. Took over 3 hrs to fill a few inches.

Grass Fires. Over 9,000 acres have burned. Everything is so dry, it's no wonder. People don't care though. They still flick their cigarrettes out the window and ride their ATV's in the extremely dry brush.

Maybe tomorrow.......

On death

I hate funerals. I don't want one. I don't want people looking at my dead body and have that last image of me. No flowers either. Heck, take the $100 plus and donate it to St. Judes. I don't want to be buried, I want to be cremated. I think it costs more to die than to be born. Fortunately this lady led a full life, she died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91. That's how I want to go.

Burgandy!

One of my favorite colors is Burgandy. Not candy apple red, but burgandy the deep, rich wine color. Although, my favorite car (that I owned) was my candy apple red Prelude! Go figure! I have never even owned a burgandy car. I decided to copy Cynthia and try my hand at making a mosaic. Sadly, NONE of these pictures were taken by me. They are a collection of my favorites from Flickr. I will probably end up making more, just because I love to look at them.

It is soooo not worth it!

You need to get a loan to go to the movies. Danny is working today, so the girls & I decide to meet up with their friend & her mom. Dinner & a movie. Simple enough. A movie, my typical date when I was 14. Well..... just to get us in the door $21, we are starving so 1 popcorn & 2 drinks $15, time with the girls= priceless. Ok, we are at $36 and we haven't even had dinner yet. We watched RV, better than I expected. Stupidly funny but with little messages about family & integrity. It was OK. We could have waited a month, it will be out on DVD. My unlimited Blockbuster is only $19.99 for the month.

I don't have much planned for today. It's a gorgeous day. I should go out and sit by the pool and enjoy the fact that there is a slight breeze & no humidity. Maybe I'll go out in a mumu and try to tan my legs...... I wouldn't want to blind my neighbors for life by going out in a bathing suit.

We went to the Balloon Race on Saturday afternoon. Or should I say the non-race?? We have gone 3 years in a row and it is always too windy. We have yet to see an afternoon race. If we would get our lazy butts up at 5AM we would be able to see the morning race. The chances of that are slim!

Aside from that, not much going on. Went to the Dr. today to get the resuts of my ultrasound. My clear water filled cycsts have now become blood filled. Now what does that mean? We don't know yet. I'm supposed to re-do the ultrasound in 6 weeks. BUT in 6 weeks we will be on our way to our great California adventure or Nat'l Lampoon Family Vacation. He asked if I wanted to get it done before we left.... Hell no! I will get it done when I get back. I pray that I am making the right decision....

I Survived Spring Break!

Not much going on around here. Dreading the appt. with my MD for the results of the ultrasound. UGH!

Haven't scrapped at all in about 3 months. Just don't feel like it lately. Soooo, I end up at Michaels today. Bought a bunch of beads and stuff. Now I will attempt to make some jewelry for me & the girls. I also went to my other favorite place..... Target! Easter stuff at 75%! Bought the girls those fuzzy socks that they like plus a bunch of candy...that I like!

Now for a rant...... Can someone please tell me how much of our tax money is going to that idiot Massoui's(sp?) trial & protection??? For crissake! Makes me sick how he can mock victim's families & say that he wishes more pain on the US and he is still given the right to trial in a country for which he has no allegiance!

one more quick rant :) Danny has never had a baby dropped off at the station. They just keep dumping these poor babies. This week was a 3 week old left on the sidewalk in front of a laundromat. Don't worry that we were in the 90's yesterday.

Well, maybe one more..... Kari was watching that MTV show, My Super Sweet 16. There is nothing sweet about those girls (& boys)! God help me if my kids EVER talked to me like that! SPOILED BRATS! OK, I'm done.... For now. ;)

Another Food Fest

Looks like we will be having another food fest at my house on Sunday. Easter Sunday. I only hope I can find a nice ham at the last minute. I will make a honey baked ham, mashed potatoes, corn, beer biscuits w/ honey butter, and Amaretto cheesecake & cupcakes for the kids. I will also make a hot spinach & artichoke dip as an appetizer. I should have just let Danny grill some burgers & hot dogs, would make my life so much easier. Maybe I'll change my mind before Sunday.....


I keep seeing that new Old Navy commercial with all tose skinny girls dancing around in those super cute outfits. How slim is the chance that they will look 1/2 as cute on me?? I have 2 months till vacation and I want cute outfits!

Poked & Prodded

I had to be at the diagnostics place this morning at 8:00 AM. Needless to say I got no sleep at all. Kari had to get a couple of tests done as well, so I scheduled them for the same day. I had an ultrasound of my gall bladder because my doctor is all test happy and I also had my bi-annual pelvic & trans-vag ultrasound to keep an eye on those pesky cysts. The last one is the one I hate the most. All that poking and probing hurt like crazy. So I do the first one, then I have to go and drink a gallon of water, then wait.... all the while feeling like my bladder is about to explode. Finally, almost an hour later I get called back in. When she is done, she tells me to wait for her. Ten minutes later she comes back and tells me to call my Dr. in 2 days because she can't give any information. I KNOW she can't but they didn't say anything after the 1st test, so now I am freaking out! That last cyst that was removed was not only bigger than a newborn baby's head but it had some bad cells. That is why I have to get the ultrasounds & CA-125 test done 2X a year.

So now I sit & wait & worry.

Dolphins

Since I finally flew for the first time ever last year and I was finally able to scratch that of my "Things to do before I die list", I think I should tackle something else on that list. My list is not very long, I wonder what happens when I do them all???? Then is it ok to just kick the bucket??? I'll probably just keep adding to it, just in case!

Although, I doubt that I will ever actually meet Tom Cruise. That's on my list too. I've loved him for more than 1/2 my life. Longer than Danny, you can even ask him... he knows. I don't care what anyone says, he's GREAT! So as far as running out of to do things, I think that will be on my list forever.

Anywho, I think I will concentrate on swimming with the dolphins this year. I was born, raised and lived here all my life and have never even seen one HERE. Except at the Seaquarium, and I don't really like that place anymore. So yeah, that's my goal for 2006. We'll see how that goes.

Finally got some sleep!!

I haven't been getting much sleep lately. Seems like I wake up a gazillion times during the night. And to add the icing on the cake, it looks like the night sweats are starting somewhat. I only have one ovary left so I have a head start on this whole menopause thing. My whole family complains because I set the A/C at 70 to sleep.

I took 2 Benadryls last night and I slept a good 8 hours. So I am in a much better mood today.

I still have not lost a pound. I am about to throw out the treadmill and my supply of spinach. Maybe not the spinach.... at the ripe old age of 39 I discovered that I like spinach, and not only in dips. I have spinach salad almost every day. This is from someone who NEVER ate veggies.... except for potatoes, which are considered a veggie. So I would happily munch on my french fries and claim to be eating my daily serving of vegetables.

So we are almost 2 month away from our vacation, I better get on the ball. I need to lose this weight so that I don't feel so bad when I gain some on vacation. Have I mentioned that I have a newfound obsession. In n' Out Burger! Discovered it in Vegas last year and can't wait to indulge when we return to the West Coast!

Spring Forward

Last night I set my clock 1 hour ahead due to the time change for daylight savings. Now the sun will start going down close to 8 PM.

So I go to sleep at around 1 AM (before the change). I am startled out of bed by an earth moving noise which sounded like a plane was going to crash into my house. I look at the clock & it is 8AM (after the change). Mind you today is SUNDAY! A DAY OF REST!!!

My neighbor had some industrial size machine thing in his back yard along with a bunch of loud workers. Needless to say I am not a happy camper. I will probably be in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I need some sleep! I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in about a week!

We would like to go to Washington DC for spring break to see this little one at the National Zoo. Last minute flights are super expensive and I know that I can't make a non-stop drive. 16 hours in a car.... hell no! Kari will be car sick before we even get out of Florida. So, considering that we can't leave until Tuesday afternoon around 4:00 PM, driving is not an option since we need to be back by Saturday. This is all Danny's idea, we have our 2 week trip planned for June.... maybe he won the lottery and didn't tell me about it!!!???!!!

3rd Time's a Charm

After attempting to grow my own herbs and ultimately killing them 2X, I am going to try once again. I ended up with Oregano, Chives, Italian Parsley & Sweet Basil. And since I was on a roll, I also bought Roma Tomato, Beefsteak Tomato & Green Bell Peppers. Might as well spread the killing joy with my black thumb.



To change the subject entirely.... we went to the fair last night. Another GREAT gatronomical adventure for sure! But I am absolutely positive that all the walking combated all the calories consumed! The girls abandoned us in favor of their friends so it was just me & Danny, my partner in food crime!
